Rail Baltica took center stage at the European Rolling Stock Summit 2026, where its strategic importance for Europe’s future transport infrastructure was emphasized. During the event, Jean-Marc Bedmar, Head of Systems and Operation at RB Rail AS, presented the project as a key driver of connectivity across the continent.
The high-speed railway corridor will run north–south, linking the Baltic States with Western Europe and significantly improving both passenger mobility and freight logistics. Designed as a dual-use infrastructure, Rail Baltica is expected to reduce travel times, enhance trade efficiency, and strengthen regional integration.
Beyond transport, the project was highlighted as a cornerstone for Europe’s economic growth, sustainability goals, and security. As a fully electrified railway powered by renewable energy, it supports the European Union’s climate objectives by reducing emissions and shifting transport from road to rail.
Additionally, Rail Baltica plays a crucial role in military mobility, enabling faster movement of troops and equipment across the region. Its compliance with EU standards, including advanced signalling systems, positions it as a model for interoperability across European rail networks.
As construction progresses, Rail Baltica stands out as one of Europe’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, reshaping not only mobility but also the continent’s economic and strategic landscape.
