ECIU University has announced the Seed Programme 2025, designed to support innovative and collaborative research projects among its member institutions.

The programme encourages teams of researchers from at least three ECIU member universities to join forces, fostering inter-institutional collaboration and addressing shared challenges within regional ecosystems. Both early-career and established researchers are welcome to participate, and external stakeholders may also be involved and, in some cases, receive funding.

The Seed Programme features two action lines, supporting projects that can last up to 24 months. Each project should conclude with a roadmap for attracting further external funding, ensuring sustainability beyond the initial grant. Proposals that were not selected in the 2024 edition can be resubmitted for consideration, while teams that received funding in 2024 are not eligible for this round.

In addition to project funding, the programme offers travel grants of up to €5,000 per stay at a partner institution, promoting deeper research collaboration and knowledge exchange. Researchers are encouraged to use the ECIU R&I Hub to find collaborators and stay informed about additional funding opportunities. For questions regarding institutional financing, applicants should contact their local representative listed on the Seed Programme page.

Evaluation results for the 2025 call will be communicated by the end of January 2026, with selected projects potentially starting from 15 March 2026.
