France and Panama are forging a dynamic partnership focused on building opportunities for future generations, with education as a central pillar. The two countries have established agreements for mutual recognition of academic qualifications, enabling Panamanian students to pursue higher education and research in France and fostering academic exchange between institutions.

A highlight of this collaboration is the expansion of French language and culture in Panama. The Lycée Français International de Panama, recently expanded, and the Alliance Française centers provide access to French-language education from early years through advanced studies.

Since 2016, French has been reintroduced into the national curriculum, and ongoing training programs for teachers—supported by France Education International—are strengthening bilingual education and cultural ties.

France’s investment in Panama extends to technical and scientific fields. Scholarship programs, developed in partnership with SENACYT and IFARHU, allow Panamanian students to specialize in science, technology, and innovation at French universities.

French expertise has also contributed to the development of Panama’s Specialized Higher Technical Institute (ITSE), helping to align technical education with international standards and labor market needs.

Beyond education, French companies play a significant role in Panama’s infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and cultural life. However, it is the shared commitment to educational advancement—through scholarships, language programs, and institutional cooperation—that most profoundly shapes the future of the bilateral relationship.
